Thought of the Week

  • "Having OCD is like being allergic to life - every waking moment is spent in a state of mental hyper-sensitivity.”

Why am I returning to this blog after so long?

During this next year, this blog will "document" Devin's OCD, and the improvements she makes. In no way is this blog meant to make anyone feel sorry for our trials. We know that trials are merely blessings in wolves' clothing. Because any improvements will be minor and subtle as the days go by, I want to write it all down so that I can look back and see how far Devin has come. If you are a first-time reader, I suggest you begin by reading this post. It will give you some background and show you a starting point. Comments are welcome, but please be kind. This is not an easy illness to deal with. We're all just doing the best we can.

Tonsilectomy

Well, it's official, Devin will be having her tonsils out July 16th. We had to schedule it so far away because the doctor isn't available until July, and the first two weeks of July, we will be on vacation.

The sleep apnea test showed that she does have "mild" breathing problems when she sleeps. Her oxygen level got as low as 60% at one point, but luckily that was just once.

Last night we were at my mom's house, and Jadyn and Devin were outside when Jadyn had to run in to go to the bathroom. Devin followed, and as far as we can figure out, she tripped on the front steps and (it looks like from the line) hit the edge of the cement step. There's a diagonal line and a huge goose egg between her eyebrows. The poor kid was in so much pain when she came in that she didn't want to talk about it, and just sat in my arms for a while whimpering. After about 1/2 an hour we got ready to leave and noticed the goose egg growing. She also has bruises on the inside of both elbows, so it seems like she fell pretty hard. Makes me feel bad. She looks a bit like a Romulon now. :(

  1. Poor girl! She is going through a lot lately. Give her a big hug for me and tell her I love her.
