Thought of the Week

  • "Having OCD is like being allergic to life - every waking moment is spent in a state of mental hyper-sensitivity.”

Why am I returning to this blog after so long?

During this next year, this blog will "document" Devin's OCD, and the improvements she makes. In no way is this blog meant to make anyone feel sorry for our trials. We know that trials are merely blessings in wolves' clothing. Because any improvements will be minor and subtle as the days go by, I want to write it all down so that I can look back and see how far Devin has come. If you are a first-time reader, I suggest you begin by reading this post. It will give you some background and show you a starting point. Comments are welcome, but please be kind. This is not an easy illness to deal with. We're all just doing the best we can.

Fun and Relaxing Day

We had a great day today.  Minus the fact that poor Devin has been so sick today with bronchitis.  She's just been sleeping down in the basement on a bed made out of bean bags.  I guess it's cooler down there, and she's been running a fever for a few days.  We had to take her to Urgent Care last night around 7 pm.  I checked it at 4 pm, and it was 101.8, so I gave her some acetaminophen.  Then I checked again at 6 pm, and it was up to 102.5. When I checked her at 7pm, it was 103.  We decided we'd better take her in.  We got an antibiotic, and so she's on the mend, but still not feeling great.

Our chicks are almost 9 weeks old.  We put them out in the coop two weeks ago.  They are fun to watch.  Last week we gave them a big, long worm and and they went crazy.  They were running all over the place, trying to get a piece, trying to take the worm from each other.  It was pretty entertaining for us.

Today we spent the entire day doing yard work.  So nice to get a day just to do yard work.  We got the front weeded, most of the garden, and the roses.  We let the chicks out for a while.  I worried they would go under the fence where the dog is.  Hopefully they are smart enough to stay away from there.  They loved all the box elder bugs out by the coop.  They also seemed to like one particularly troublesome weed by the fence, which is why I kept worrying they'd end up on the other side.

Fun and relaxing day.  I wish we could do more of these.
